Cllr Nicola King is a youth and community worker and her career spans thirty-one years in various youth work settings. Nicola is also known to many young people by her nickname “Onion”.
She has lived and worked in Bedfordshire for the past twenty-five years and, after joining the Town Council in 2007, has facilitated the National award-winning Shefford Youth Involvement Team via her role at Grand Union Housing Group.
The Shefford Youth Team is made up of volunteers, paid youth workers and youth sports coaches and the work they do includes mentoring children and young people in schools and communities, operating half term activity programmes, and collaborating with community safety initiatives.
In her spare time, Nicola teaches group exercise classes, ranging from boxercise, to circuits, to strength training. She also has a keen interest in tractors and loves to visit local tractor festivals and events.
