The mobile breast screening unit is coming to Shefford in Spring through to Summer 2026 – we urge all eligible ladies who are registered at Shefford, Stondon, and Larskfield Surgeries to please look out for your screening appointment which will come to you by post.
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK, mostly affecting women over the age of 50, but younger women, and men can also get breast cancer. About 1 in 7 women are diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Remember, when breast cancer is spotted early, treatment is more likely to be successful. Thanks to research, treatments are kinder and more effective than ever.
You will automatically get your first invitation for breast screening between the ages of 50 and 53, and then you’ll be invited every 3 years until you turn 71. After the age of 71 you will not automatically be invited, but you may continue by self-referring to the breast screening service.
